Situated on the Brooksville Ridge in northwestern Hernando County, the 570 acres set aside for public trails are at a slightly higher elevation than surrounding areas. The sandhills, upland hardwood forest and scrub communities are adjacent to the sprawling Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area to the west.
